The Lead DAS Administrator is the focal point of contact between Midcoast Aviation and the 4 FAA offices which comprise the Organization Management Team (OMT), which authorizes and monitors the DAS.  FAA DER or DAR delegation is required to be a DAS Administrator. 

 

The DAS Administrator, within the limitation of 14 CFR 21 Subpart M, acts as FAA Administrator for purposes of issuing Supplemental Type Certificates, monitoring, and verifying all engineering and airworthiness activities requisite to issuting STCs. 

The position is the FAA Administrator respecting Midcoast's certification activities within the DAS.  The DAS may appoint Associate Administrators who must meet all the same requirements to be the Lead Administrator.

 

The DAS Administrator is responsible for:

  • Training, monitoring and advising the engineering and inspection Authorized Representatives (ARs) who make compliance and airworthiness findings on behalf of the FAA.
  • All records within the DAS
  • Representing Midcoast Aviation to the FAA OMT.

As per FAA Statutory requirements for Associate DAS Administrators, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
  • Possess a current FAA Delegation as a DER or DAR and must be able to be delegated by the FAA ACO as an Administrative DER.
    • Or have held such delegation ins the past and have the ability to be reinstated
  • Have a minimum of 8 years experience with FAA Certification and/or airworthyness activities and management of certificaton projects.
  • Strong background working with FARs and foreign aviation regulations
  • Effective communication skills and good computer knowledge
  • Neat and professional appearance and the ability to effectivly represent Midcoast Aviation to the FAA is essential.
